Abstract:
As AI systems evolve from tools to teammates, the future of work will be defined by multi-human, multi-machine collaboration across multimedia environments. In this talk, Dr. Ganesh Mani, Adjunct Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and former President of TiE Pittsburgh, will explore how diverse teams of humans and intelligent agents can co-create value in domains ranging from finance to education to global innovation ecosystems.
Drawing on his cross-sectoral experience in investment management, AI ventures, and academic initiatives such as Collaborative AI at CMU and the Afretec-funded FINIA project at CMU-Africa, Dr. Mani will share practical frameworks for human-AI teaming, swarm intelligence, and experiential learning. He will also highlight how multimodal data and multimedia interactions can be harnessed to build trustworthy, inclusive, and interpretable AI systems that empower both experts and everyday users.
This session attempts to align with the NUS AI Institute’s mission to advance AI for the public good, and resonates with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, which emphasizes moving from projects to systems, from local to global, and from opportunity to necessity. Dr. Mani will also reflect on how entrepreneurial ecosystems like TiE.org and cross-continental collaborations can catalyze responsible AI adoption in both developed and emerging economies.
