The AI Governance pillar at AI Singapore was pleased to host Columbia University’s Anu Bradford to discuss her new book, “Digital Empires: The Global Battle to Regulate Technology”. She argues that there are horizontal battles underway between the market-based US model, a rights-based approach favoured in the EU, and China’s state-centric regime. In addition, each jurisdiction faces vertical battles as they seek to rein in tech companies without unnecessarily constraining innovation and growth. AISG’s Simon Chesterman and NUS Law’s David Tan led a lively discussion with a diverse mix of scholars and practitioners.
